The Telegram messaging service in Russia suffered a major outage on December 2. Nearly 700 users reported problems accessing the service, according to data from Downdetector.su.

As of 18:38 Moscow time, 685 people complained about the ruling. Most of them (55%) reported problems with the mobile app, 20% complained that the website was crashing, and another 13% reported a general crash.
“I go to Telegram, it says “connection.” There is Internet, but Telegram does not work,” wrote one of the Messenger users. Another noted that the service “does not work on mobile devices or desktop computers.”
The majority of complaints, according to Downdetector.su, came from the Krasnodar Territory, St. Petersburg, the Leningrad Region, Moscow, the Moscow Region and the Nizhny Novgorod Region (6 each), another 4% of the Complaints came from users in the Tver region.
This is not the first time Telegram has failed in Russia. On November 11, more than 900 users complained about problems accessing the messenger.
On November 25, Moscow’s Tagansky District Court imposed a fine of 7 million rubles on Telegram for violating the rules for blocking information prohibited in Russia.
