Wildberries & Russ began testing a delivery service for food and ready-to-eat products in partnership with Vprok.ru of the X5 Group (owner of the Pyaterochka, Perekrestok and Chizhik chains). This was reported in a market press release. While the service is available on a trial basis in some areas of Moscow, the delivery geography will be expanded in the future.

“X5’s online business development strategy involves increasing the efficiency of its own channels and actively developing partner delivery. Entering the largest market platform will allow us to expand Vprok.ru’s audience of loyal customers,” commented Sergey Pankov, CEO of X5 Digital, about the new project.

You can order groceries and food on the market’s website and mobile app; Assembly and delivery will be the responsibility of the retailer.

Wildberries expects the average product delivery time to be four hours, depending on the customer’s location and the workload of couriers. The minimum order receipt will be set by the retailer – the partnership with Vprok.ru involves the development of a format for large orders on the market. In a conversation with Vedomosti, a representative of X5 said that at first the minimum check will be 4.5 thousand rubles, and delivery will be free.

According to Wildberries founder Tatyana Kim, whose words are quoted in the Wildberries & Russ message, the new service will be popular due to the development of the e-grocery market and the normalization of online grocery ordering. Additionally, the market offers its partners the opportunity to store, pick up and deliver products independently, Kim added.

The pilot group of customers has access to around 35,000 items in a special exhibition. The initial list included food, feed, cosmetics, household chemicals, pet supplies and other categories. The market plans to add new formats for ordering products and diversify delivery types.

Wildberries is not the first partner of Vprok.ru, notes Vedomosti. The service is also presented on Delivery, Yandex Market, Cooper, Yandex Food and Sbermegamarket.

According to a November study by Data Insight, in October of this year alone Russians placed 69.4 million orders for electronic food services, 25% more than in October of last year and 8% more than in September. On average, 2.2 thousand food orders were placed in stores every day of October in Russia. The agency predicts an increase in sales on the market until the end of 2024 up to 1.2 trillion rubles (+44% compared to the previous year).
