DeX integration for Windows PC will be deprecated in One UI 7. Samsung’s decision aims to prioritize the use of “Link to Windows”, an application developed together with Microsoft.

THE DeX for Windows is not the same as the DeX platform on Galaxy phones. Home DeX allows you to use the device like a computer with an adapted interface and peripherals support; the other is simply an integration with Microsoft’s operating system.

Just like in Windows 10 and Windows 11 application, DeX for Windows allowed access to mobile phone files from computerbut without having to touch the laptop.

Over time and with the cooperation of Samsung, “Link to Windows” began to offer the same functionality. Naturally, given the greater accessibility of the Microsoft application, the program cannibalized the native One UI solution.

THE One UI 7 is still in developmentand there is no forecast for the release of tests. In any case, testing the system should not take long.

One UI 7 should be released in January

It is currently unknown when One UI 7 will be released to everyone. The update is expected to be released along with the presentation of the Galaxy S25, which is planned for January.

Other features of the DeX platform, such as the adapted interface and other special features, should be preserved and perhaps even new features should be received in the update.
