During an event with the newspaper New York Times Yesterday (04), OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced that ChatGPT had surpassed the 300 million weekly user mark. The brand represents a major revolution as the platform already had just over 200 million users in August.

At the event, Altman explained that the company’s core product is rapidly evolving and continues to be successful. “Our product has grown…we now have over 300 million weekly active users. According to the CEO’s comment, we have users sending more than 1 billion messages a day to ChatGPT.

According to CNBC sources, the platform still had 250 million weekly users last week, contrary to Sam’s statement. Yet ChatGPT has become an immeasurable craze on the internet since its launch in 2022 and is already considered by many to be a synonym for generative AI.

ChatGPT is on the rise

OpenAI has invested heavily in the platform recently. Recently, the company announced the hiring of its first marketing director, Kate Rouch, who previously worked in the cryptocurrency industry. In September, ChatGPT also received o1 and o1-mini, its first AIs with more rational thinking, which are now available for use.

It is possible that OpenAI will reveal its new language model, codenamed Orion, for 2025. The technology was recently leaked and was due to be announced in December, but CEO Sam Altman said it was all fake news.
