Last year, xAI launched Grok as a “humorous AI assistant” for testing among premium subscribers, recalls The Verge. In August, xAI added a text-to-image conversion feature to Grok that was capable of creating some questionable characters.
TechCrunch also reported last month that Musk’s xAI company had begun testing a free version of Grok in a limited area. It is assumed that the free Grok will be able to compete with the now most popular free bots such as ChatGPT from OpenAI, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and Claude from Anthropic.
xAI, which raised $6 billion in its latest funding round, is also considering launching a separate app for Grok, also similar to ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude.
