The Russian Interior Ministry’s Anti-Cybercrime Office warned users about a new threat on the Internet. Hackers use corrupted Microsoft Word documents to bypass computer security systems.

As reported on the management’s Telegram channel, attackers disguise damaged documents and letters as messages from a human resources specialist or the payroll department. The documents allegedly relate to payments and bonuses given to the fraud victim.
When you open it, Word detects that the file is corrupted and reports that “unreadable content has been detected” and then offers to repair the file.
In this case, the computer’s security system cannot identify the file as malicious due to its corruption.
If a user clicks on the link, they will be directed to a phishing site disguised as a Microsoft site, through which hackers will attempt to steal the victim’s credentials.
Information security experts advise not to trust emails from an unknown sender, especially if they contain attachments, and not to open them or click on suspicious links.
