Today, dementia is considered an incurable disease. You can only reduce its symptoms if brain cells are already damaged.
Experts from the Australian biotechnology company Filamon created the drug ALPHA-003. Not only can it reduce the effects of senile dementia, but it can also prevent brain damage. This product has already gone through pre-clinical trials. According to scientists, this may be the first drug aimed at protecting microtubules (the main component of brain cells) from damage.
Experiments have shown that ALPHA-003 can directly affect cells in the brain. If this drug passes clinical trials, it will be used to treat frontotemporal dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, progressive supranuclear palsy and chronic traumatic encephalopathy.
