Customers of Russian Post partner Pochta Global have not been able to receive packages ordered from online stores in Europe and the US for more than nine months. The victims themselves told Forbes. According to Forbes, Global Mail has not accepted orders for new items since April and does not ship already paid for products from its overseas warehouses. The amounts of damages vary: from 7 thousand rubles to 3 million rubles and more.
According to one of the victims, between December 16, 2023 and March 16, 2024, he ordered more than 10 packages on eBay.com for a total of $768. In April they arrived at Post Global’s US warehouse; The company invoiced 26.6 thousand rubles for shipping to Russia. The buyer paid for it, but the delivery status was stuck at “Ready to ship”.
Another customer of the service claimed that since 2022 he had repeatedly purchased clothes on various foreign online platforms, in brand stores and on Amazon, after which the packages were combined into one at the Global Post warehouse and sent to Russia. The interlocutor pointed out that the problem arose in April 2024, when 79 products worth almost 1.2 thousand dollars were stalled.
“In the spring of this year I bought vitamins on iHerb and things on Yoox, the total cost was about a thousand dollars, the goods arrived at the Global Post warehouse in Germany. I paid about 7 thousand rubles for shipping, but then a nightmare began: the company first responded that they had some problems, and then stopped communicating altogether,” another victim told Forbes. He clarified that he tried to negotiate the possibility of delivering the package to his relatives who live in Germany, but the company “ignored the requests.”
Russian Post told Forbes that the postal operator is only a logistics partner of Global Post and advised to contact its press service if you have questions about the latter’s work. Post Global linked the problems to the inability to pay for foreign contractors’ work, but said the situation had now been resolved.
“We have already started shipping orders from the United States and within this month we will start shipping from the EU,” said a representative of the service. He added that several dozen orders from the US and EU are now delayed. The publication clarified that, according to Global Mail clients, several thousand people could have suffered from its actions, so there are many more assets detained.
A Forbes source in the e-commerce market suggested that difficulties with package delivery may be due to secondary sanctions that were introduced in late 2023 against foreign financial institutions for their involvement in transactions related to supplies for the Russian defense industry. .
Global Mail began operating at the end of November 2022. The service’s website says it helps you buy products from online stores in the US, Europe, and China.
