Bitzer’s work on PLATO did not end with the software. He helped co-develop the plasma panel, the ancestor of the screens used in televisions and tablets today.

PLATO alumnus Ray Ozzie, a former chief software architect at Microsoft, described Bitzer as an inspirational leader who brought technical minds together to realize his ambitious vision.
