FOST brings together around 230 sellers and around 100 order pick-up point (POP) owners. The organization sent letters to Wildberries, Ozon, Yandex Market, Megamarket, Lamoda and SDEK-Global.

The association justified the initiative by the fact that, according to a Data Insight study from December, 87% of active sellers face non-repurchase of goods, damage or loss during delivery, fraud and additional logistics costs, which leads to losses of up to 16% of sellers’ turnover.

In addition, the number of conflicts between customers, collection point employees and sellers is growing, and in some cases “reaches the use of physical force,” the FOST letter says.

In this sense, the organization proposed introducing ratings for buyers. Each market is expected to have its own system and the ratings will be visible to employees at collection points so that “they can adapt the approach to customers with a problematic reputation,” FOST said.

Wildberries’ press service told Vedomosti that they consider the initiative excessive and have no intention of introducing measures of this type. SDEK-Global confirmed receipt of FOST’s letter, but declined to comment; Ozon also did not comment on the initiative.

The Association of Internet Trading Companies (AKIT, which brings together Ozon, Wildberries, Citylink, Avito and other companies) claims that ratings are useless for buyers. The president of the association, Artem Sokolov, noted that violations by customers are not widespread and the fight against abuses should not worry millions of ordinary customers.

In addition, even if qualifications are introduced, markets and collection points will not be able to refuse service to customers in accordance with the law, Alexey Fedorov, head of the e-commerce council of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, told Vedomosti.
