One of the main tasks was to mount the SPIN-X1-MVN X-ray spectrometer on the Zvezda module. Created by the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, this spectrometer will allow scientists to make X-ray observations of almost the entire celestial sphere. The experiment, called All Sky Monitor, will be carried out every 72 days for three years.

The astronauts also replaced various retention panels that held the cable connectors in place. They also dismantled devices and panels on the exterior of the ISS as part of scientific experiments, including Test and Endurance. In these experiments, the effects of space on the structure and materials of the station were examined.

To complete the job, Ovchinin used the ERA manipulator to send old parts and equipment into space, which would later burn up in the atmosphere.
