Traditional silicon 3D chips require wafer punching, which limits the number of layers that can be stacked. MIT’s invention prevents this problem.
The researchers successfully created a multilayer chip using two types of two-dimensional materials: molybdenum disulfide and tungsten diselenide. These materials are ideal for creating high-performance transistors that allow chip densities to be doubled.
