On board the Azerbaijan Airlines plane were 67 passengers from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Russia, including five crew members. 38 people died, including a child, and 27 survived, Karabaev added. None of Kazakhstan’s citizens survived.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic, Kanat Bozumbayev, the bodies of the victims suffered serious burns.
“The bodies are in poor condition, mostly burned, they have all been collected, now they will be in the morgue, there will be identification,” said the official. Tengrinews quotes him.
The plane was flying from Baku to Grozny on December 25.
Based on the fact of the plane crash, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a case under Article 263 of the Criminal Code (violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of air transport). The Investigative Commission is carrying out investigative actions, trying to establish the circumstances, causes and conditions of what happened.
The Baza Telegram channel published a list of Russian citizens who were on board the plane. There are 15 people on the list.
The Russian embassy reported that ten Russians were injured in a plane crash in Kazakhstan. The injured are in hospitals in Aktau.
According to Interfax, the plane was manufactured in 2013, made 9,949 landings and the total flight time was 15,257.22 hours. The last complete technical inspection of the plane took place in October 2024. The reasons for the plane crash are unknown. The tragedy occurred during landing.
