To increase the safety of customers, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, together with other concerned departments, is exploring options for a complete ban on the sale of online fireworks or the introduction of specific requirements and conditions.

In response to this initiative, the press service of the merged company Wildberries&Russ issued a statement (quote from TASS):

“We consider it inappropriate to introduce a complete ban on the sale of such products, as this could lead to an increase in illegal trafficking and sellers moving into a gray area. In addition, a pilot project on digital marking of pyrotechnic products is currently underway, the aim of which is to increase transparency in the industry.”

The company added that it generally supports the introduction of measures to ensure customer safety, but stresses that the goals can be achieved in other ways. For example, controlling the age of the buyer at the points of delivery of the goods, during delivery by courier, etc.

According to the press service of the merged company, markets no longer display fireworks without a confirmed certificate of conformity and reinforce moderation and age protection. And Wildberries itself “reminds sellers to instruct couriers to deliver such products only to citizens who have reached the age of majority and to verify the customer’s documents certifying their age before issuing them.”
