According to 404 Media, in the first 9 months of last year, Telegram fulfilled 14 requests for the transfer of IP addresses and phone numbers, affecting 108 users. However, the total for the year was 900 requests regarding 2,253 people.
There was a sharp increase in the number of completed requests in the last quarter of the year, which coincided with the detention of Telegram founder Pavel Durov in France.
Shortly thereafter, the messenger updated its privacy policy, adding the possibility of providing personal data by court order.
