According to Gurman, “signs indicate” that Apple will launch an updated augmented reality headset next year with an M5 processor, Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence, and a new design. According to him, the company needs to update the Vision Pro line due to the “moderate reaction” of consumers to the first generation glasses.

Gurman added that Apple’s short-term priority remains to launch a cheaper augmented reality headset, codenamed N107, which is also unlikely to go on sale in 2025. Additionally, the company is “actively exploring” creating of smart glasses similar to the joint project Meta* and Ray-Ban.

Bloomberg reported on the upcoming launch of a cheaper version of the Vision Pro in October last year. According to Gurman, the EyeSight feature, which projects the user’s eyes onto an external screen, will be removed from the budget version. The device, which costs around $2,000, will use cheaper materials and a less powerful processor, the source wrote.

The Apple Vision Pro headset, with a starting price of 3.5 thousand dollars, became the most expensive among other virtual reality devices by a wide margin: the closest competitor, Somnium VR1, sells for 1.9 thousand dollars , Statista calculated.
