In 2024, 3.5 million electric vehicles were sold worldwide, up 9.4% from 2023 sales of 3.2 million units, according to analytics firm Rho Motion.

Sales of electric vehicles increased worldwide, except in Europe, where they decreased by 3%.

The most profitable growth was recorded in China – by 40%. In North America, sales increased by 9%, and in the “rest of the world” by 27%.

The decline in sales of electric vehicles in Europe is due to a sharp drop in the number of vehicles in Germany, which is the region’s largest car market. After the removal of government subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles, demand in Germany has decreased significantly. At the same time, sales of electric vehicles continue to grow in other European countries. However, the crisis in Germany was so important that against its background, sales growth in other European countries was not expected.

In the creation of hybrid and electric cars in 2024, 17.1 million units were sold. This is 25% more than in 2023 (13.6 million units). [Electrek]
