Softbank founder Masayoshi Son told Wired about his meeting with Steve Jobs in the summer of 2005, where he proposed the idea of creating the iPhone.
The son flew to California with a drawing that showed an iPod with a large balcony and was accused of making calls. He showed it to Jobs, but the Apple founder was not impressed.
Masa, don’t give me your derma drawing. I have my own.

Jobs declined to reveal any details, but Son noticed a flicker of a smile on his face. The billionaire later met with Jobs at his home, where Jobs negotiated Softbank’s exclusive right to sell the iPhone in Japan.
Well, Masa, you’re crazy. We didn’t talk to anyone, but you came to me first. I’ll give it to you.

This promise to the billionaire came true. In 2006, Softbank bought the Japanese operator Vodafone Japan for $17 billion, and in 2008 received the exclusive right to sell the iPhone 3G in Japan.
