According to them, such wording should guide government agencies when working with the crypto industry. The creation of a state advisory council on cryptocurrencies is also expected, which will “promote priority areas of industrial policy,” the interlocutors added.
In addition, the inclusion in the decree of a directive addressed to all government agencies on the review of policies relating to digital assets and the possible suspension of any litigation related to cryptocurrencies is being discussed, Bloomberg writes.
The issue of creating a national bitcoin reserve is also being considered. According to the analysis company Arkham, the US government currently holds around $20 billion worth of bitcoins, which have been seized as part of various investigations.
Bloomberg noted that the crypto industry has come under attack during Joe Biden’s presidency. Federal agencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), have filed more than 100 lawsuits against the crypto sector in recent years, and banking regulators have made it difficult for crypto companies to cooperate with financial institutions.
