“Yes, we are considering it,” Musk responded to user X, who suggested “bringing back” Vine.
Vine is a Twitter-owned service for creating and sharing 6-second videos, launched in 2013. In 2014-2015, the platform reached the peak of its popularity and the number of active users worldwide reached 200 million.
In 2017, Twitter management decided to close Vine. However, according to Axios, after Elon Musk completed the acquisition of Twitter in October 2022, the company has been discussing reviving the app.
On April 17, 2024, Musk posted a poll on his X account asking if he should “bring back Vine.” More than 2.2 million people participated in the survey, 70% of whom voted for the “Yes” option.
On January 19 of this year, the social network TikTok stopped operating in the United States due to the entry into force of a federal law that prohibits the operation of the platform. TikTok’s audience in the United States amounts to 170 million people.
