After much speculation about the arrival of the new Radeon RX 9070, which was secretly announced at CES 2025, AMD has confirmed that the GPUs will be released in March. The information was revealed by David McAfee, AMD’s corporate vice president and general manager of customer channel, via a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday (20).
Without giving too many details, the executive only noted that “the Radeon 9000’s hardware and software are great” and noted that the company will work with a wide range of models developed by partner manufacturers. Despite the launch window in March, there is no set date yet for the models to arrive in stores.
During a pre-briefing for the press, AMD announced the Radeon RX 9070 but caused consternation by cutting off the presentation of the cards at the CES 2025 conference. Company spokespeople said at the time that a special event to comment on the signs would be held “soon,” but so far that has not happened.
Radeon 9000 series hardware and software are looking great and we are planning to have a wide assortment of cards available globally. Can’t wait for gamers to get their hands on the cards when they go on sale in March!

AMD is being cautious
One of the reasons behind the Radeon RX 9070’s mystique has to do with Nvidia’s impressive announcement of the GeForce RTX 50. Some rumors suggest that AMD was planning to announce higher priced cards because it believed Nvidia would do the same, but the rival’s move was the exact opposite, which did not show the spectacular increase that many thought.
In fact, some leaks indicate that AMD has shipped a few units of GPUs to retail but has delayed the launch because it has not yet determined the price of these cards. The idea is to first wait for Nvidia to announce the prices of the RTX 5070 and 5070 Ti and only then announce the values.
Although it is a smart move by AMD not to directly intervene in the launch frenzy of the RTX 5070, which is predicted to have the performance of the RTX 4090, some side effects may occur. Since retailers already have a large number of cards in stock, a leak of lower-than-expected performance could reduce the popularity of the products even before they are released.
