Sberbank denied the news about the increase in the amount of the down payment on already approved mortgage applications.
Previously, the media reported similar customer complaints and an increase in the fee from 15% to 35%.
“Have we increased the down payment on already approved mortgage applications? Of course not. We have tried to review some of the requests for which there would be an unequivocal denial. And they offered customers individual terms, for example the same increased down payment,” the bank said in a statement.
Sberbank assures that, as a result, mortgages will become more affordable for a larger number of citizens.
Earlier, the Kommersant newspaper, citing Sberbank clients, reported that the Russians speak of an "unreasonable" increase in the first installment of already approved mortgage loan applications to 35% (from 15 to 20%). In some cases, the fee is doubled. Real estate agents cooperating with the bank said that there are already at least a thousand such cases.
