Yandex Maps has added approximately a thousand Christmas tree processing points in 100 cities in Russia, including Moscow, Krasnoyarsk and Kaliningrad, the company’s press service told RB.RU. They claim this should help people properly dispose of trees after the New Year holidays.

“If you enter “Christmas tree collection points” in the search bar of the service, ecopoints will appear on the map where you can donate branches of spruce, pine, fir and coniferous trees left after the New Year holidays,” Yandex explained .
They noted that the collection points look like containers or specially fenced areas next to the solid waste collection sites. Before sending it for processing, the wood must be cleaned of foreign objects.
The processed conifers will in the future be made into chips that will be used to fertilize the soil, fill animal enclosures and organize ecological trails, the company added.
Most recycling points are marked on the map of Kaliningrad – 171 ecological points. There are 165 in Moscow and 30 in Biysk. The smallest number of these points is observed in Krasnoyarsk, Volgograd, Perm and Chelyabinsk (one in each).
In December, Yandex Maps added the ability to create routes inside buildings: shopping centers, airports, and train stations. The feature is available in more than a million cities in Russia.
