On January 15, the Telegram channel “IT Workers Trade Union” reported on upcoming layoffs at Ecom.tech. “Depending on the company, between 30% and 50% of employees will be laid off. This will also affect IT people. There has not been any official statement yet, but rumors are beginning to reach employees,” the channel’s authors noted.
According to Vedomosti, the “optimization” mainly included employees of Instamart Technologies LLC, which manages the IT side of the Cooper product delivery service, and employees of Smart Space LLC, which unites the IT divisions of Megamarket, ” Sberlogistics ” and “Samokata”. .
The head of the recruiting company, citing a source from Ecom.tech’s top management, told the newspaper that Sber suspended investments in the IT division in January. According to him, in this sense it is planned to optimize up to 50% of the staff, starting with interns and juniors. “Almost all the leaders are ready to leave, but it is important that they take their teams with them,” the source added.
Some of Cooper’s managers left of their own volition, refusing to fire their subordinates, an employee who was fired confirmed to the newspaper. A former Samokat employee said that those who left by agreement of the parties are offered two or three salaries, and dismissed senior managers are offered up to five or six salaries.
Megamarket’s press service declined to comment. Sber, Cooper and Sberlogistics did not respond to Vedomosti’s requests.
Infoline Analytics CEO Mikhail Burmistrov, in a conversation with the publication, noted that personnel changes associated with a change in the format of the IT team are natural for online companies and are usually aimed at increasing efficiency. He added that the listed services are among the leaders in their segments and continue to develop.
