According to them, the ruling began on January 23 at around 2:18 PM Moscow time. At its peak, more than 4.3 thousand American ChatGPT users reported problems.

Even more complaints about problems with ChatGPT came from the Netherlands (7.5 thousand) and Germany (6 thousand complaints). 1.4 thousand complaints were received from France. In China, the maximum number of complaints was 129, in Japan – 1.2 thousand.

“I keep getting a server error when I try to log in (01/23/25). I have no problems logging into other sites,” wrote downdetector.com user Nathan Rogers.

At 15:43 Moscow time, OpenAI reported that “the issue had been resolved,” adding that within an hour “users encountered an increased number of errors when working with ChatGPT and the API.”

The Mash Telegram channel claims that the failure of ChatGPT was due to a cyberattack by “Russian hackers from the 22c group” together with a hacker under the pseudonym PalachPro. In a conversation with Mash, PalachPro allegedly claimed that “hackers blocked the neuron because the Ukrainian Armed Forces used it to process satellite photographs” to detect Russian troops.

The last major ChatGPT outage occurred on December 26, 2024. At that time, ChatGPT, Sora, and the OpenAI API were unavailable to customers for more than four hours.
