According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Biohaven violated federal law by offering speaking fees and hosting lavish dinners at upscale restaurants between March 2020 and September 2022. These actions were allegedly used to encourage doctors to prescribe Nurtec more frequently. Some events had no educational value, and physicians often attended these events with relatives or nonmedical colleagues.

Pfizer discontinued these programs after its $11.5 billion acquisition of Biohaven in October 2022. Even though the company does not admit guilt.
