People who constantly rely on algorithms are less likely to analyze information on their own, which can lead to deterioration in cognitive abilities.

319 people who regularly use AI participated in the experiment. They were asked to define examples of the application of technology in three scenarios:

  • Content creation (for example, letter writing);
  • Information Collection (data search, compilation of reports);
  • Consultancy (taking tips, production of diagrams).

After that, scientists controlled the reliability of the AI answers of the participants. 36% of the respondents, especially in critical situations, consciously doubled information.

However, many were only controlled by popular resources such as saving algorithms or Wikipedia.

Researchers have concluded that excessive trust in artificial intelligence reduces independence in decision -making.
