Until recently, the circulations were reduced: according to the RSL, in 2022 the total circulation amounted to 392.5 million copies, and the number of items 108 thousand in 2023, the indicators decreased to 335 million copies and 96.3 thousand elements. Market participants associated this with the game of foreign authors and the shortage of equipment from print houses.
In 2024, the market leader in the number of articles became “EKSMO” with an indicator of 10.5 thousand, against 8.6 thousand a year earlier. The following are the AST Group (10.1 thousand units) and the Illustration Group (6.4 thousand). Last year, the “Enlightenment” (131 million copies) was the leader, secondly: “EKSMO” (49 million), in the third – AST (41.9 million).
The most published author for the second consecutive year was Anna Jane (real name Anna Potapkina, author of youth novels), Fedor Dostoevsky in second place. The three leaders are closed by Mikhail Bulgakov, who took the place of Agatha Christie.
At the same time, market representatives doubt the continuation of the growth of circulations and names in 2025, since the prices of printed materials increased again. According to Kommersant, since January its cost has increased by 7-10%. Previously, the publication wrote that growth was caused by an increase in the price in 20% of printing services, logistics, as well as an increase in commissions in markets by 4-7%.
At the beginning of 2025, the Russians increased the expenses in the books by 16%, wrote RB.RU with reference to the data of the bank publication, which compared the relevant transactions of customers on bank cards with indicators of the same period of 2024 .
At the beginning of February, the largest editors told Kommersant that sales of children’s literature on markets in 2024 increased by 15-20% in annual terms. At the same time, out -of -line sales sales remained at the 2023 level.
