According to CCI, the growth of the sale of dietary supplements in the markets leads to the appearance of falsifications issued by additives. Although online platforms strive to control the assortment, they do not always have enough resources to verify the information about the goods.

The authors of the appeal propose to introduce a preliminary moderation system in the markets and independent tests of goods, as well as the mandatory certification of all dietary supplements sold in Russia, and the blocking mechanisms of the additional court of sites that sell products prohibited or not registered.

Gray zone. In Roskachestvo they confirmed that it is easier to buy falsified dietary supplements or medications, disguised as additives, in markets than in pharmacies, where the quality control of products is more difficult. Dietary supplements sellers in markets can issue statements to comply with food supplements, avoid state registry and, as a result, unregistered products represent approximately 20% of the legal market for baskets, said Alexander Zabrovkov, executive director of the Union of the Bannies Union of the Food Diet. The president of the Board of Directors of Evalara Natalia Prokopieva, speaking of the proportion of “gray offers” in the markets, called a 50%figure.

Market position. The current legislation already contains the necessary control measures, the state registry and labeling allow it to trace dietary supplements in all stages of implementation, said Artem Sokolov, president of the Association of Commercial Internet companies. Ozon and Wildberries said that the entire range of dietary supplements on the platforms regularly suffers controls. However, the ICC indicates that some sellers avoid the Russian requirements by supplying products through legal entities registered in the EAEU countries.

  • According to DSM Group, in 2024, sales of pharmacy of dietary supplements compared to 2023 increased by 13.1% and brought 143.1 billion rubles. The participation of online sales increased by 4.1 percentage points and amounted to 24.1%.
  • Last summer, Rospotrebnadzor asked him to allow him to block the sites for the sale of low quality dietary supplements without a judicial decision. The department referred to a long waiting period for a judicial decision, for which unscrupulous vendors manage to change the negotiation platform.
