In February, the index of consumer feelings increased for the second consecutive month, for a value of 106.3 points, the Central Bank said. The indicator grew by 2.4 points compared to January, but decreased by 4.7 points in relation to the same period last year.

Two feelings of the consumer of subundics included in the index of consumer feelings:

The current state index (evaluation of the personal financial situation and the conditions for large purchases) amounted to 92.3 points, increasing by 2.3 points per month.

The Expectations Index amounted to 115.6 points (+3.0 of the point compared to January) with the improvement of all components: the expectation of a change in the financial situation for next year and forecasts of the country’s development for a year and five years.
At the same time, the frugality of the Russians in February practically did not change: 51.4% of respondents prefer to save money and not spend it on buying expensive products. The indicator remains below the average value since 2016. The participation of those who prefer to spend, not save, amounted to 31.1%.
The shares of those who prefer to store money in a bank account (up to 45%) and in cash (up to 29%) increased by two percentage points. At the same time, the proportion of those who prefer to store money partially in the bank and partially in cash decreased.
- On February 19, a survey conducted by the INFOM agency by order of the Central Bank showed that the expected inflation for next year is 13.7%, which is lower than the previous month, which was 14%. Despite the decrease in the predicted level, the observed level increased from 16.4 to 16.5%. The survey also revealed that 64% of respondents have no savings, and 33% have a financial reserve that can support them in case of loss of main income.
