Intelligence data are an important element of modern war. From the very beginning of the conflict, Ukraine relied on American satellite information to strike with high -precision weapons and coordination of troops. In recent months, however, it has limited access to the United States and has to reduce the amount of data transferred in the UK under Washington edition. Although Europe continues to support, it does not have such a powerful satellite group and multi -point visualization technologies.
American satellites can correct objects in visible, infrared, ultraviolet, x -ray and radar spectrums, making them indispensable for sensitive weapons. European satellites only work in the radar range that reduces the quality and efficiency of the data. In addition, the number is much less. This has already led to a decrease in the activity of strikes on Russian targets.
The loss of satellite intelligence will make it difficult to plan aggressive operations, complex the supply of unity, and reduce the accuracy of missile strikes. High -precision systems such as Himars and Storm Shadow, which were previously used effectively even with the active opposition of Russian air defense, are particularly affected. Now, the operational-cycle depth of Russian troops will become less vulnerable to attacks.
The situation is aggravated by the possibility of closing Starlink’s satellite communication. Elon Musk has already implied such an opportunity several times, and Ukraine is strictly dependent on this service. Starlink is not only used for advanced communication, but also for the transmission of intelligence drones, navigation and intelligence. France has already offered an alternative – the Eutelsat system, but the application will last for months when Kiev does not have.
Ukraine faces a sharp decrease in war activity in the coming months under the conditions of weapon scarcity, lack of ammunition and communication. There is no time to adapt practically, and despite the expressions, international support cannot compensate for losses as quickly as the preliminary reality requires.
