The world’s largest clothing retailer, H&M, announced the start of the process of reducing business in Russia. The company’s stores have not operated in the country since March.

H&M announced its withdrawal from Russia

H&M attributed the decision to "operational problems and an unpredictable future".

The company is going to temporarily open its stores to sell the rest of the products. Sale dates are not specified.

“Given the current situation, we consider it impossible to continue doing business in Russia. We are deeply saddened by the impact this will have on our colleagues and are very grateful for all of their hard work and dedication. Furthermore, we want to thank our customers for their support over the years,” said Helena Helmersson, CEO of H&M Group.

H&M has been operating in Russia since 2009, the retailer has opened more than 150 outlets in the country. The company decided to suspend sales in the country in the midst of a Russian special operation in Ukraine.
