The Russian Consumers’ Union offered foreign automakers to buy back cars from Russians at current market prices. This will help resolve warranty issues.
Warranty repairs are gradually becoming practically inaccessible to buyers - spare parts are not supplied to Russia. However, according to the law on the protection of consumer rights, the manufacturer must provide the buyer with the opportunity to use the product for the entire service life, Izvestia writes.
To do this, the manufacturer provides repair, maintenance of goods and spare parts for products. In the absence of a useful life, the requirement is valid for 10 years from the date of its sale.
The union believes that in the absence of the possibility of supplying spare parts, there should be no obstacles to compensating for goods of inadequate quality. In this case, it is worth using the current market price at the time of returning the car. Manufacturers must send money to car dealers and they will already pay the money to buyers.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin recently signed a decree on a temporary simplified procedure for importing cars from abroad. The clause equipping the vehicle with the ERA-GLONASS system was removed from the mandatory requirements.
The simplified registration procedure will be in effect until February 1, 2023. It is assumed that, at this point, manufacturers "will be able to reconfigure supply chains."
