Problem? Many companies rely on Microsoft software such as Windows Server and SQL Server. However, since 2019, Microsoft requires additional license at a much higher price if customers want to use this software on competitor cloud platforms such as AWS or Google. In some cases, it can cost four times more expensive.
The transition to Linux may seem like a solution to the problem, but Google and AWS claim that it is not that simple. Many companies will have to rebuild all their systems, and this is for a long time expensive and is often impossible without great engineering assistance.
According to AWS representatives, if prices were more balanced, half of their customers may give up Azure.
Microsoft claims that pricing has been carefully carried out in order not to push customers to alternatives and at the same time to protect the cost of their software.
CMA deals with this problem and will make the final solution on July 4.
