Previously, CCI found that Google has used the dominant position of the Android operating system and has been obstacles to companies that want to improve their own operating system versions for TVs. One of the key complaints was the compulsory installation of the Play Store application store and other Google services on Android TV.
As part of the contract, Google proposed to change the conditions: now manufacturers will be able to access the game store and game services separately. This will allow the company to release devices in Android without the need to prescribe other companies.
Google also promised its partners in India that they can use the open version of Android without Google Services, or that they can develop devices on other operating systems.
CCI said that a new agreement can affect not only the smart TV market, but also other segments. In addition, Google will pay 202.4 million rupees for India’s budget – this is about $ 2.38 million.
