Starbase will be a house for more than 3400 SpaceX employees and contractor, where Starship missiles have been created and launched for Moon and Mars’s duties. SpaceX’s Test and Launch Vice President Bobby Pedi was elected the first mayor and the two commission members are the employees of the company. The city will be entitled to regulate local development, which will simplify SpaceX infrastructure management, including taxation and roads and residences.
However, the decision led to protests of local residents and ecologists who are concerned about the restriction of access to Boka-Chick Beach, a popular holiday place. Critics, including the Cameron Eddie Trevin, are afraid that SpaceX will receive a lot of control over public lands.
