The government briefed US companies about the plan and told them it expects new restrictions to be announced next month, according to sources familiar with the situation and sharing the information with Bloomberg.
The new rules could double the number of machines requiring special export licenses and create new barriers for Chinese (and non-Chinese) equipment manufacturers.
Sources said that with the latest “innovations”, US authorities are planning to coordinate with the governments of the Netherlands and Japan. If other countries impose looser restrictions, states will not relax their plans.
