The number of crimes related to illegal access to computer data increased almost three times last year. Most of these cases are related to the hacking of accounts in the public service portal. At the same time, only 2% of these crimes are announced.

In total, in 2024, more than 104,000 incidents with illegal access to information were recorded, which is more than 2023 when there were more than 36,000 cases. However, the police were able to explain only about two thousand crimes, about 2% of the total. This emphasizes serious problems with the security and investigation of such cases.

Experts attribute a sharp increase in the interests of criminals in “public services ile with the fraud against microfinance organizations through stolen accounts. The attackers use social engineering methods: they act as an employee of transportation companies, medical institutions and civil servants to get disposable codes to enter accounts. In addition, criminals buy the phone numbers that telekom operators put free of charge after the replacement of the owner, which allows access to already registered accounts.
