Scientists applied a three -dimensional model, taking into account the realistic distribution of clouds and surfaces, which double the accuracy of the reflected light and spectral “pressures ın of water, oxygen and other molecules.
The key vehicle was the 3D cloud generator model based on world satellite data. It was tested on six famous outer planets, including Proxima B and on the model of the planet in the Alfa Centaurus system.
It turned out that previously simplified approaches exaggerated the contrast of reflection and distorted the spectra, which can lead to false consequences.
The new study is critical for future tasks such as ELT telescope and livable Worlds Observer project. Refined calculations are already used when creating ADS and PCS tools. The next step is the adaptation of models for data from the Hubble telescope, and preparation for HWO’s launch.
