Ice lenses occur when wet soil freezes and unintentionally lifted the set, pose a threat to train the movement. Professor Mfti Alena Favorskaya, led by Russian scientists conducted a vibration analysis, and found that these formations could not only increase the burden on the structure but also stabilize it at the same time.

A special technique with ringing networks has been used for calculations. A knitted soil and ballast were modeled and the second – reiterated the shape of an ice lens. Special algorithms combined the data that accurately predicted the behavior of the road under the load.

The results showed that ice inklusions first increased the pressure in the crushed stone layer by 13%, but distributing the voltage and working as a shock absorber.
