There are several worldly organisms on Mars that show the ability to withstand living conditions. In 2008-2016, the European Space Agency conducted various experiments where conditions that mimic Mars were created for various organisms and seeds at the international space station. Some bacteria and mushrooms were able to live there for about a year, but only in rest – in the form of disagreement or cysts.

Some lichens and algae showed real metabolic activity when protected from radiation. It would be possible on Mars if they were buried in the ground or hidden in the cracks of the rocks.

In 2024, Chinese researchers found that various desert algae (Syntrichia Caninevis) could withstand Mars living conditions. However, this is not what contributes to the welfare of the plant. Moss managed to heal under these conditions a week later and grew normally, but was not metabolic active. However, the problem is toxic for cells that scientists do not use perclorates on Mars and cause DNA damage. Probably, Moss would immediately die with these oxidizing agents.

Some mushrooms can survive in the presence of perchlorates, and some types of bacteria use them even as an energy source. However, there is a nuance: they all need water and higher temperatures for life and growth.
