MPPP allows you to combine several modes on a “logical” data line. Previously, such solutions were used on two moder PCI cards, but it was not widespread due to difficulties with the connection and restrictions of the providers.

As a result, 12 modems created a compound at a speed of 668.8 kbit/s at the same time. This turned out to be enough to download and play videos on YouTube without a small delay due to the old processor.

For the experiment, bloggers started with two modems on the old PC with Windows Me, and then moved to a more modern IBM ThinkCenter 2004 with Windows XP. The installation of two different serial cards made it possible to use 13 consecutive port points. After installing all modems, the system successfully connected 12 devices at the same time and created a “Symphony”, one of the characteristic sounds of the modems.
