The robot can determine the ripeness of the fruit using computer vision algorithms. He carefully picks only the ripe tomatoes, leaving the unripe ones on the bush to be picked later. The device uses ultrasonic sensors for precise positioning.

A special feature of the development is a system for estimating the optimum harvest time. The algorithm calculates the number of days until full ripening by analyzing the color characteristics and saturation of the fruits. This allows you to plan the operation of the robot with maximum efficiency.

The manipulator is made by 3D printing and consists of 115 parts. In order to prevent damage to the fruits, pressure sensors have been installed to regulate the compression force. In the future, the developers plan to adapt the system to harvest other vegetable crops.
