The Solidigm P5530 is the first SSD from Solidigm, a company created by the sale of Intel’s NAND and SSD partitions to SK Hynix. The young company’s new SSD is the first SSD with an Intel controller and SK Hynix nand-flash memory. According to the manufacturer, the P5530 will be available in limited numbers.

With the P5530, an nvme ssd is designed with support for pci-express 4.0. The solid state drive uses SK Hynix’ 128-layer 3D NAND, marketed as “4D NAND” by the manufacturer. Logic circuits are located in a separate layer below the memory cells. This provides a relatively compact design.

The P5530 is available in 1TB, 2TB and 4TB storage capacities. Details on form factor, performance or write limits (tbw) are missing from the announcement. In addition, there is no information about the product on the Solidigm website. Several sources indicate that Solidigm and SK Hynix are reluctant to provide information, even on demand. In his own words, the P5530 is “a limited product for just a few customers”.
