The document proposes amendments to the Civil Code of the Russian Federation to ensure effective protection of technical solutions implemented using software. We are talking about complexes, systems and distributed computer networks, as well as breakthroughs in the field of artificial intelligence.
Additionally, the bill expands legal protection for utility models. If software improves the performance of a device without changing its physical components, such a solution can be patented without disclosing standard hardware elements.
The bill also clarifies the rules regarding the protection of design objects. Not only the appearance of the device is preserved, but also the graphical interface of programs and their components. This reinforces the practice already used in Russia and abroad to provide legal protection to elements of the interface of computer programs.
