NASA has found a contractor to develop a nuclear engine using a “wave rotor excitation cycle” that will reduce flight time to Mars to 45 days, and the same goes for other planets. The main purpose of the project is flights to neighboring star systems and the study of interstellar objects.
As part of this program, NASA will send astrobiological missions to Venus and Mars to search for and study signs of extraterrestrial life. At the same time, manned flights to the Moon are also planned.
The agency also plans to send robotic missions to Jupiter and Saturn’s moons Europa and Titan. The presence of subglacial oceans during these months indicates the potential existence of various life forms.
