LOFIC allows each sensor pixel to store and process light differently depending on the light in the scene. This allows the camera to preserve detail in both highlights and shadows.

Insider DigitalChatStation reported that the next generation LOFIC eliminates artifacts such as blur when shooting moving objects. In addition, the system works faster and more efficiently than previous solutions.

The first smartphone with the new technology was Xiaomi 17 Pro, followed by Huawei Mate 80.

Rumor has it that Apple is also developing its own CMOS sensor with LOFIC support, but it is not planned to include it in the company’s products until 2028.
