AMD previously had a long-term deal with OpenAI to provide computing power for its accelerators and is also participating in AI infrastructure development projects with other major companies. The contract with Oracle does not overlap with supplies to OpenAI, but some of Oracle’s computing resources are also used for OpenAI.
In this context, Intel is also actively developing its own artificial intelligence accelerators to compete with AMD and Nvidia. Focused on running artificial intelligence programs, the new Crescent Island chip will be energy efficient and have a large amount of memory. The samples are planned to be available to customers in the second half of 2026.
