The project is based on the redesigned Qwasm engine, which Aksenov rewrote, fixing critical bugs and restoring sound. It also adapted controls for touchscreens, added a full-screen mode, saved progress, and integrated integration with Telegram.
The game uses the official shareware version of Quake; There is a first chapter with seven levels, a secret arena, and a final boss. According to the author, the project works stably “on almost every device”.
Carter54 previously ported the classic Dune II to Telegram and launched a PlayStation emulator (PSXTG).
His work aims to popularize retro games and show how even cult games of the past can be launched directly from within instant messengers.
