A nanoemulsion is created by mixing water with 1% oil and then a stable structure is formed by ultrasound. Special emulsifiers are used for stability.
According to the study’s authors, the technology makes it possible to produce more oil without additional cost: water and oil can be used directly from the field, and emulsifiers are available and inexpensive. Production of nanoemulsions is possible directly at the production site. Currently, the only limitation is the power of the equipment, but the problems may be resolved in the next 1-2 years.
